What is Stake Blackjack?
Stake's Blackjack is a single-player Stake Original with provably fair shuffles. You and the dealer each get two cards; you decide to hit, stand, double or split, aiming to finish closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Stake also has dozens of live dealer blackjack tables.
How to play
- Place your bet and click Bet to deal.
- Read your hand — number cards count face value, J/Q/K count 10, Aces count 1 or 11.
- Choose: Hit (take a card), Stand (keep your total), Double (double the bet, take exactly one card) or Split (two equal cards become two hands).
- The dealer plays and must draw to 17. Higher total wins; blackjack (Ace + 10-value) pays 3:2.
Basic strategy cheat sheet
| Your hand | Dealer shows 2–6 | Dealer shows 7–A |
|---|---|---|
| 8 or less | Hit | Hit |
| 9 | Double (3–6) | Hit |
| 10–11 | Double | Double (if higher than dealer's card) |
| 12 | Stand (4–6) | Hit |
| 13–16 | Stand | Hit |
| 17+ | Stand | Stand |
| A,A or 8,8 | Split | Split |
Simplified. Basic strategy lowers the house edge, but it doesn't remove it.
Blackjack tips
- Never take insurance — it's a side bet with a worse edge.
- Don't copy the dealer (“always stand on 12+”) — that's one of the most expensive habits.
- Set a session budget; blackjack is fast and hands add up.
