Provably Fair Explained

How you can check that every Stake Originals result was fair.

What is provably fair?

Provably fair is a system that lets you mathematically verify that a game result was decided before you bet and wasn't changed afterwards.

The three parts

  • Server seed — generated by Stake. You see its hash up front; the real seed is revealed when you rotate it.
  • Client seed — set by you (or randomly), so Stake can't predict the combined result.
  • Nonce — a counter that increases with each bet.

Each result is generated from all three. Because you saw the server seed's hash first, Stake can't swap it later without you noticing.

How to verify

  1. Open the game's Fairness panel and note the hashed server seed and your client seed.
  2. Play your bets.
  3. Rotate your seed pair to reveal the previous server seed.
  4. Check the revealed seed hashes to the value you saw, then use the verification tool to recompute any result.
Provably fair proves results weren't tampered with. It doesn't change the house edge.
