Reading odds
Stake shows decimal odds by default. Your return = stake × odds. Odds of 2.50 on a $10 bet return $25 ($15 profit).
Implied probability = 1 ÷ odds. Odds of 2.50 imply a 40% chance. If you think the true chance is higher, the bet may have value.
Manage your bankroll
- Set a betting budget separate from everyday money.
- Stake a small, fixed % per bet (many bettors use 1–3%).
- Track every bet — results, odds and reasoning.
Finding value
Specialise in a few leagues you know well, compare against your own estimates, and pay attention to team news, schedules and motivation. Accumulators look tempting, but every leg adds the bookmaker's margin.
Live betting
In-play odds move fast. Have a plan before kick-off and avoid impulsive bets driven by a single moment in the game.
Mistakes to avoid
- Chasing losses with bigger stakes.
- Betting on your favourite team with your heart.
- Ignoring bonus terms on sports promotions.
- Betting while tired, emotional or under the influence.
No strategy guarantees profit. Bet only what you can afford to lose.
